*sigh* I'm loosing my touch. (Warning: Hi-jacked by Em)

So Baby Spook wants Silkies for the fair again, does she?
I can see why you wouldn't want to go through the whole business again - how many did you have to buy to get those two birds? At least a dozen, I think it was.
But I suspect you are right about the judge knowing a Silkie, or in this case Not a Silkie, when he sees it.

We're thinking garden around here, too. Has Critter been talkin' to you, Spook? He seems to think mine is the hand that should be on the tiller.

Had me a whole herd of them silkies, I did. A dozen. They
lived in our (then new) living room. Wasn't bad until they
learned to get out of their box.

Then it was AWFUL. Got so it wasn't safe to sit on my couch.

And the day my wifes little jack russel dog fell into the box of
siklies...that was funny. Poor dog was scared to death.

But I've learned...NOW I have a nice coop OUTSIDE.

I am READY.

(this year will be a "team" effort of daughter and her boyfriend.
He comes from a broken home, and I will give him a little help.)

As to the plowing...use your logic, Bunny,

The kitchen belongs to my wife. She cooks. (once in awhile)
She is in charge of what goes in the kitchen.

The garden stuff goes in the kitchen....

So, it's plain to see that SHE is responsible for the garden.

Seriously I just don't see any profit in the large animals
at the county fair level. Unless you score the grand champion,
someone id going to take a loss.

Hard to lose big money in chickens.

In these parts, a baby show-pig starts at $250.00 and goes up.
Hate to think what they want for a baby cow.

And then to have a pig or a cow in the house...not even for my
daughter would I do that.

So, it's back to chickens. Anyone have some silkies I can borrow?

Whoa - Baby Spook has a boyfriend? How'd that happen? Has she been out without her bucket?

Guess the lad can't be all bad, if he's interested in chickens, right?

Sorry, but I'm afraid I can't help you with the Silkies, Spook. I've only got one Silkie hen, that would be Splish, the Perpetual Broody, and she's far from show quality.

I'm with you on not having cows or pigs in the house. I haven't even had a goat in the house for years (since she was a kid). I'm still trying to figure out how we wound up with all these cats . . .
