Guess who survived her first eight weeks as a public high school student? THIS GAL!! And now I'm on fall break. And I bought a chicken to use for shows. It was sold as a polish rooster, but it has feathery legs and vulture hocks and five toes, which means it's a Sultan. It's soooo cute. Let's see... I've made a few sparklie friends, and a few non-sparklie friends, and I've missed being around at the Kingdom.

The kingdom has missed you, too.

had a Sultan once. She really liked that bird. I have looked for some since she lost him, but they are a bit hard to find.


But seriously, Tani. You know the rules. Sparklies must be brought to the kingdom for a proper grilling by the elders!

Why thank you, thank you....Alaskan loves attentions (shine, shine, shine on me)

But, there has been NO snow as of yet.

However, the rodent migration is I do believe in full force. Alaskan can no longer sit quietly and play on the computer.

Also, it should perhaps be known that there is currently no heat in Alaskan's house, and that there has been ice outside by Alaskan's front door.

But, no matter what the temperature happens to be, no heat may be had, until October 1.

Even with the cooler weather, the potato and carrot leaves are still green.

However, it is getting difficult to find green chickweed for the poultry.

Alaskan, no heat?  Why?

Heat costs money....so no heat is used in Alaskan's house until the house is so cold that your breath smokes.

Children get to sleep with no heat....us poor old parents get to heat up the bedroom to 50.

Oh, but no heat in the bedroom until the daytime house temp meets or exceeds the freezy breath test.

Alaskan does NOT have enough cords of wood stocked up....poor cold Alaskan.

Alaskan, Garrison Keillor had the answer to your problem - big beefy bedcats (six provide complete coverage on those cold winter nights). I know that if I take a nap on the couch, I often wake up with a couple of the "Barnacles" on me, and they are really warm. They might help with the rodent problem, too. Shoot, at this time of year, you probably wouldn't need to feed them!
