I read about a guy who had a pet rabbit and started paying attention more closely to what it was doing inside his apartment. It kept doing these runs around the apartment that seemed to be random, but when he followed the bunny closely, he noticed that it did the exact same routes over and over. So he started timing the bunny. And it kept improving his speed on the runs. So he came to the conclusion that bunnies in the wild probably do the same thing too, practice their escape routes. If that is so, I think it's pretty cool.
, for a variety of reasons. Watch those paths to your coops - beware the snare. I'm not liking this cold that you sent South.
V, several years ago my dogs would jump a rabbit in a certain area and after a short chase would always lose the scent trail in a certain spot. Day after a light 'tracking' snow I took the dogs and started this rabbit. I quickly ran to the area where the dogs would always lose. In the snow I could see where this rabbit ran down a path and then doubled back on his trail about 50 ft and then took a big leap to the side; hence, losing the dogs. Yep, critters learn survival tricks. Some may be thought out, but I believe that most are trial and error.
Anyone ever tried 'Alaskan Chowder'? I hear it's somewhat pungent but rather tasty.
This little guy was a baby found in an attic. He's been a secret pet for two years. Like all secret pets, he hasn't had any vet care, or a proper diet, so he's not in good shape. I've dubbed him Theo Possum.
He'll get to the vet on Monday, and a proper diet started, and be a permanent resident with us. He's very sweet, and gets depressed when not being held.
Cute possum. Good luck Em! But...Better there than here. A few years back we had one sitting atop of ou BBQ grill. 2 years ago one crawled inside the cat's outdoor shelter box and died. I wasn't sure if it was playing possum or dead. So I left it and checked the next day again. Definitely dead. Last year a raccoon crawled in same cat box and died. It had been hanging out for a few days. I think it was cold and starving. We had record amounts of snow. Not much available food.
