Residential rehab is best after a stroke. That said, I know some folks are just too stubborn for their own good. Home health has physical, occupational and speech therapies that can come out to your home and work with him several times a week. I don't know how the reimbursement would be, most of our patients are Medicare with an increasing Medicaid population. It's what I do for a living, so feel free to PM me if you have questions, or need anything.
Best is to do residential first, get the max benefit from that, then continue at home where they can work with the things you actually do on a day to day basis. Our Physical Therapists have helped folks golf, fish, ride motorcycles, etc. I'm sure they could come up with some good adaptive stuff for homesteading if he needs it.
Meltdowns and emotional issues are very, very common after a stroke. Heck, I had meltdowns just from being in the hospital, when my brain
wasn't effected by anything
. some of us simply don't tolerate confinement well.
