Careful, Yebob, the Broody Magician is in a 'gifting' mood,

Interesting night last night. The Princess and I went to observe our younger grandson play in a baseball 'all star' game. Our older grandson came with our daughter, and I immediately noticed his bloody nose, scratched face, neck, and shoulder. I mean significant injuries. Upon questioning him I found out that at a wrestling match an opponent had gone berserk and caused the damage. The vengefulness of 'Pa' rose from deep within me

- I can understand how parents/loved ones go nuts at these sporting ? events. Turns out the kid was a state ranked high school wrestler who had problems handling defeat from a kid. My SIL overheard the kid's brothers say, "How did he ever get beaten by that 'scrub'?" My SIL replied, "Make the poor sport feel better and tell him that the 'scrub' is only in 8th grade and has only been wrestling 4 years." My grandson loves the sport and has aspirations. I don't particularly like wrestling.

Gransdon # 2 played extremely well and his team won.

Wow. I go to work and when I come back, I find myself thrown under the bus a few dozen times.

The elders don't seem very friendly to newcomers.

Don't worry Bluesub, Eenie will vouch for me. Although I'm not sure how she knows me so well.

More like they threw the bus AT you.

Eh, I've never seen you say anything remotely sparkly, and I can't say that about many.

Scratches? For cryin' out loud, was he wrasslin' a gurl? I hope the kid in question gets suspended from competition for a couple of weeks, or something - there's just no excuse for that. Wrestlers are a pretty tough lot, they expect bruises and pulled muscles, but they have rules, after all. Wrestling is supposed to be as much about thinking and strategy as physical prowess, I guess we know where this kid's weakness is, don't we?

I have a friend with two sons that are on their school wrestling team. One of her boys is turning into quite a star, which is actually a bit of a problem - kids who don't even wrestle are gunning for him. He's had to deal with kids a good bit bigger than he is, simply because he has the reputation.
