sigh this ends now

did not go well they were happy to see the scratch grains for them but the jig was up when we sunk into a deep mud hole in the water... and for being grounded my mother knows of there plight but she didnt realy want any more birds but she was thinking over the winter they may not live so i think she has been thinking about it and if we move to a proper farm she would love to take them. also we know there not vary trusting at night or day but they love me...not my friend no clue why but they love me they come right up and wait at my feet for food but reaching out and grabing is not a option as they dont like touching. this weekend were going out agian...were going for the baby boy first then the pair a diffrent time

It souldn't be that hard to get the gosling, but of course you'll have to distract the parents some how, hoping this all turns out for the good, for the geese and ya'll.

I still think you're doing the right thing.

Without seeing or knowing the exact "set-up" you're dealing with - let me offer a couple of suggestions: Portable exercise pens for dogs that are at least the 36" high variety work wonders in this type of situation so do dog kennel panels. Do you and your Mother have access to a pick up truck - to take panels or some type of fencing over there? You can use inexpensive "step in" plastic electric fense posts to support the panels or pens. With a super large kennel cab you might be able to direct the geese inside the kennel by using kennel panels or excercise pens. Of course this would only be possible if your were trying to catch these DOMESTIC geese on LAND. I thought I better spell out the fact that these sound like domestic geese not "wild"geese and you would be working with them on land...I've taken some heat over supporting you - but I still do.

I think it is awesome to see a young person getting involved and thinking about ways to make a bad situation better. I'm very glad you feel empowered enough to make a difference - because you care - you will make a difference! It would seem your Mother has done a very good job of instilling the sense of caring and responsibility in you. Bravo! Give your Mother my best regards.

Good Luck this weekend & don't forget the scratch grains! Keep us posted.

the baby is a around 2-3 now so the parents arnt the issue i dont know what im going to do. i broke my toe/foot tonight training my cow (more like shes training me) and got bad rope burn so this may be realy hard but im not going to give up. They didnt ask to be dumped off or get the baby get hit by the boat braking his wing. so if nothing els i will keep up with feeding them so they dont starve or anything and when i get back to a healed state keep trying. thanks for all the edvice !

Sorry to hear about your toe! Are you in 4-H and getting ready for an event at your fair?

I hope you feel better fast good luck with your " training" - cattle sure do have a mind of their own at times. I think feeding the geese will help build trust. Good plan...keep us posted.

I agree, no better way to make friends and build trust than food. Hope you can get them soon and get help for the gosling. poor thing. And hope your toe heals quickly.
