Signs a hen is ABOUT to go broody?

A watched 'maybe-broody' never sets.

Did she go to roost last night?

You may just have a 'lounger'.....
....have had several birds that spend time in the nest before and after laying.
Is she still laying?

Yes she went to roost last night but she acts like a broody hen and when I saw her in the nest today she did a sound like a mother hen talking to her babies. She made a tucktucktuck sound. And yes she is still laying.

The other hens laying in her box could also be disturbing her. She may be more successful if she's moved somewhere in the coop by herself. She'll be in a familiar place but other hens can't slip eggs in on her or injure her chicks when they hatch. I'd advise moving her at night while it's dark so that she doesn't get off the nest and pace, ruining the eggs you've given her, or breaking herself up...

Really best to wait a couple days....can't rush these things.

Agreed. I'd let her set for at least our or five days. Probably better to wait a full week though.

...then move her and give her some fake eggs.
Do yo have place setup...where is it?
Make sure she's settled back in, she may not like being moved, for at least a day and night before giving fresh fertile eggs and marking your calendar for the 21 day wait.
