Signs of an Animal Attack in our Garden.

Hi,

I really need some advice on how to keep my girls safe. A lost one of our girls at the weekend very quickly to egg peretinitis. I came home from work today to find a load of feathers, some bits and portions of beak in the garden. Thankfully it was a wild bird and not one of our 2 hens. I checked on the girls and they were both in the coop. They have an enclosed run and won't even come out in that at the minute.

We live in an urban area with a fair few domesticated cats around so I'm wondering if one of them could be the culprit and if so what can we do to deter them? I'm also wondering if something has been stalking around the coop and run and if the year contributed to what happened to Bluebell. Really finding chicken keeping tough at the moment!

Could also have very well been a hawk or a falcon that got the wild bird. Not sure - I've not had problems with cats - even feral toms - ever bothering my flock.
