Hi, just wondering if this could be signs of a hen going broody?, My buff orpington has been walking around clucking today and when i went to her nest were she had layed she had plucked about 8 feathers out whilst she was in there.

If shes going broody its to early to tell. All chickens walk around and cluck (I know it probably a different cluck than usual) eight feathers picked or lost could just be a coincidence. Wait a while for better signs.

what other signs could i look for, and ive only ever had broodies who cluck like that

If she is going broody she will start to sit more in the nest. She'll start to flatten out on the nest and protest much more than usual when you reach under her. She may or may not pluck or lose her belly feathers. When she goes broody she'll stop roosting on the perches at night and stay in the nest.

Usually, when my hens go broody, usually my hen Lucky, she'll start to just sit on her nice little nest all the time and just lay eggs, and no amount of coaxing will get her out unless you manually lift her and throw her outside. Only then will she eat.
I've seen chickens plucking their feathers out and almost seeming to line their nests with them---I think that your chicken might be doing just that. But I can't be entirely sure.

Like Den in Penn just said, wait for a few more signs. If she lays in her nest all day, refusing to move, and she puffs up when you go towards her and makes a sort of "stay away" sound, then most likely she's broody.
Hope this helped! ;)
