So I have two Rhoad Island Reds, two barred rocks, and one Easter egger. They all are about 4/5 months old and I'm guessing about to lay eggs. They have been really catty to each other and being bullies. Would the meaness be connected with about to lay? Any other signs of egglayers too can help! Thank you

Their combs will start turning a rosy red and when you reach fire then, they should squat. Usually the first signs... there can be competition over nesting boxes, and I would chalk the cattiness up to hormones (as long as they have enough room).

Most all of my hens through the years also begin singing their egg songs a couple of days before their first egg.

check the width of the pelvic bones. Find the bones that you can feel on either side if the vent. if the bones are more than 2 fingers apart, the bird is laying. If you can feel both bones with only one finger they are not.
