I have 27 gals, ranging from 4 months here and there.my older gals are RIR,Black sex links,Red sexlinks and they were hatched Feb 4th i believe.anyways what are the signs of the impending eggs:) i keep checking but nothing. Is there some sort of strange behavior prior to laying? Like pms is to us gals- lol. They are huge and i am just curious :) :)

Most don't start til 20 weeks or older, though some may. Their combs will get redder, and they may start "squatting" for you, or sort of flattening down to the ground as you approach. You may hear different vocalizations.

Agreed 18-20 weeks is the typical age for laying. Idk about the sex links but your reds will squawk very loudly just before they lay and the combs turn bright red.
