SIL *****RANT*****

She is a jerk!!! I may not always love the gifts I get, in fact some are downright funny they are so cheesy, but I would NEVER EVER EVER say something in front of the giver. EVER!!! How rude. And the art of regifting needs to be refined so the same person doesn't get it back next year.....

OH NO! That is the G rated version of my emotion right now....and you are right, it's not at all about the THING....but about the value of what my mother placed on giving me something she wanted to share....stupid people are a curse...

To some people money equals love. My father in law is like that and that is what he taught his kids. It took me a long time to figure it out, because I was raised with homemade presents and spending quality time together with my family. I cherish making cookies together, he feels unloved if the christmas tree isn't drowning in presents. He shows his love by buying outrageous amounts of presents for everyone and anyone. I welcome them in for cocoa and homemade pie.
Your SIL was certainly rude, and I do believe it is important to stand up for yourself. The bracelet your mother gave you has much greater value, but your SIL wouln't understand that. You know she'll do it again, so you might think of a gracious way to answer her rude comments. Maybe you could even gets your kids to help you think of a good and polite way to handle it. That way it'll be an inside joke next time.

its just shows how "empty" she is inside..really.....people that have to have the best of everything..AND brag about it..are sorely missing something inside themselves....
