Silence Is Not Golden Here

I hope it isn't Marek's.
I may be wrong but it seems like you bring in a lot of birds from a lot of places.
Do you quarantine your new birds far away from your original flock?
This is one of those things that I NEVER thought about before joining this site. It really makes me just want to always hatch my own eggs from my own hens.

I don't think most new chicken owners think about it either.

I think everyone should learn about how serious chicken disease are and how easily they are spread before they get chickens but how in the world would a non chicken owner ever know there is such a think to learn about?

Not sure if that came out right but hopefully it makes some sense.

I also don't think many understand that is is just wrong (in my eyes) to sell sick birds yet they continue to do so.
Close your flock and try to breed for resistance.

Totally did not come out wrong at all. It's just not in the nice glowy "vaseline on the lens" view of fluffy butts in nice grassy fields image in most heads (my own included) when one imagines a backyard flock of egg layers or fun ornamental birds.
It's always in the back of my mind now.
