Yeah... Ash squatted for Copper for the very first time yesterday - that I've seen. She did it twice, when he started harassing her. He stood there looking confused, then wandered off... Lately he tries to sneak up and grab them by the tail. But they're so much bigger than him, that he gets dragged all over until he lets go. So he's been getting chased off the pullets quite a bit. And then one goes and squats for him... and he doesn't know what to do about it. Teenagers.
On another note, the best information I've been able to scrounge up on blood vessels radiating from an air pocket related to fertile eggs that were too old to be viable. Which is entirely possible, since some of the eggs I set may have been as much as two or three weeks old.
However, the five that I just removed and opened were, indeed, dead. And I'm pretty sure I know the cause. All had viable embryos that died at about the same stage - and one had twins in it. I just found out yesterday that a few days prior, while I was gone, the power got shut off for a few hours. The incubator is on a backup, so it would have kept running... but the AC in the house did not. It would have turned into an absolute oven in here during that time, and this incubator, unlike my last one, doesn't cool, it only heats. I suspect the eggs got cooked.
That leaves me with eleven that are alive and moving, and one that I thought was dead previously, but am pretty sure I saw veins in today. However, my weights are also bad - I've kept humidity right around 40%, yet I've lost too much weight for halfway through incubation. So I'm going to have to boost humidity for the next week and a half.
