My D'Uccle hen laid an egg!!!
Unfortunately, it was eaten but still!!

There is hope!

My welsummer has pointed feathers not rounded like the rest of the hens. But, it's color pattern is of a hen and thought it was.

It lost this feather this morning while I was changing water and feed
The left feather is the welsummer and right one is jersey giant

She definitely is taking great care of her babies. She was trying to lead them away from the mean old human taking video of them.

This is what I found this morning. Looks like she has accepted them.

My BEST broody mama hen is a rose comb brown leghorn. She laid maybe 2 or 3 eggs when she was about 4-5 months old then went straight into broody mode and adopted 13 chicks. She raised and weaned those: Laid eggs for maybe 6 months then went broody again and hatched a batch of eggs on her own. She is priceless and fiercely protective of her babies in the flock, but doesn’t panick at all with me around them. I love that little hen.
