Silence Is Not Golden Here

Glad to hear the chickie is okay :)
Did you use Blue-Kote or just some dye?

Dye. Blue-Kote isn't available here, though I keep meaning to order some shipped to me... and should probably go do that now. I had an ink stamp pad around still from my obligatory college art class, so I just used a dab from that on my fingertip rolled over the wound, purely to cover the red. It seems to have stuck to the scab perfectly, but not to the healthy beak material.

Food coloring works too.

I thought of that, but it's a half hour drive into town - and I have no food coloring. Needed a quick fix, so the chick could go back with the rest rather than get used to the air conditioned house.

On another note, yesterday was also extremely windy.... and watching my Serama boys strut around was hilarious. They were so indignant - every time they'd turn their backs to the wind, it would catch those nice upright tails of theirs, act just like a sail, and send them bowling head over heals. It's really hard to strut when you're getting literally blown over.

No food coloring in the house. :th
How do you dye Easter eggs?

I bet they are too cute.
We need pics.

Photos are not my strong point! It's not windy today, but I'll try next time it is. Usually I stay in on days like that, since the dirt here is loess - which means the wind is brown. Not to mention dust devils a hundred feet across at the base.

I don't dye Easter eggs. I don't celebrate Easter, and I don't like eggs. I'm weird.

Fine Mr. Red Rock.
I'll go pout in my corner and wait patietly for fake chicken pictures.

Hah! Here. These are from the 2nd, but there is a bit of tail blowing going on in the second one, just to show the difference... it wasn't a very windy day, so it's not nearly as dramatic.

And since I'm photospamming the thread... The EE girls on the 2nd;

Ash: 7-2-18, Ash.JPG
Smoke: 6-12-18, Smoke.JPG
And Snow: 7-2-18, Snow.JPG

Note the difference from there and when Snow first arrived:

The spot in front of her tail:

The bare patch in front of her tail has healed up and re-feathered very nicely. She and the other two were being kept in a pen that was much too small, with way too many other birds.
