Silence Is Not Golden Here

I have 3, I never thought of the velociraptor comparison...but you are right! I've had to run outside on more than one occasion thinking someone was being murdered...nope...just them being them.

As far as egg sitting, I've noticed they will individually sit on 2 but anymore than that they tag team...so 3 and up will have two of them sitting together/on top of one another.

I don't know how I missed this comment... sorry. But seriously though! Don't they have a sound that is all their own? At least it's nothing like any of my other chickens! When I first heard it I thought.. hold on... this isn't what I signed up for. People should warn you about this when you get a d'uccle!

I picked up my polish roo the other day and he sounded like a small, very loud, screaming crying child being chased with a switch (not that I would ever do that) but it made my heart race and that image came to mind...
But seriously, his screams made me go bug eyed. I actually looked around, embarrassed, hoping my neighbors didn’t come out, thinking I was murdering someone. All I did was... Pick. Him. Up.... Gently. Because the dummy had run smack-dab into a wall after doing other stupid antics. :idunno He is an impolite word. For sure.

I picked up my black bantam Cochin roo this morning to give him a hug (he's so fluffy!), and he screamed bloody murder. After I put him down, he had to go put the SLW roo in his place to remind the flock that he's still in charge...

Snagged these for $.50 from TSC bc they're probably dead. Anyway I'd really like to see if I can save them. Any tips? Btw these are those little roots plant cuttings you can buy in the bag.

Pop em in the ground and see what happens! I have golden raspberries (everbearing) and are they ever delicious! My favorites by far. If you have any nice composted chicken poo or fresh rabbit poo, throw some of that on there and water. Let them dry out a bit between waterings until established. This advice is in regards to the raspberries only ... I haven't a clue on gooseberries! They sure look neat though!

Hi y’all! Gotta join in. I’m a talker, when you can get me to stop working long enough. The thing about me is, I go MIA often. I love BYC & wish I could spend more time here. I have met some great members & found so many threads & articles that I would love to read in their entirety. But I’m tired!:thMaybe I’m just getting too old for this little ranch.
I am well on my way to having the green eggs to go with my last name “Ham”. This morning I found this in my “Big Girl” tractor. View attachment 1460583Yep, a sneaky snake! Got a friend of mine to relocate it. If it weren’t for my Littles in a different coop, I would have let it be. However, I lost a Black Copper Marans last week in the run. That rat snake was caught in the act & got the ultimate penalty from DH who thinks the only good snake is a dead one. :smack
Maybe someday I will read more of the previous 132 pages on this thread. But for now, I’ve got evening chores.:th

Welcome to the fun chat! :frow Snakes are no fun at all. We had one a month or so ago and it ate our eggs. Sorry to say that snake was taken care of, but with chicks on the way we took no chances.
