Silence Is Not Golden Here

Bed time. I got the Milk Drinker to sleep about 20 min ago and I need to follow. I was up early this morning to catch birds for the inconsiderate no-show, and I have to be up early to catch birds for the lady that is supposed to be coming tomorrow.

Goodnight, I’m right behind you!

Here a pic of most of my flock but I'm not sure if you can see the white one to the left. If you can see her behind that's a good representation of what most look like. I made a giant mistake last year and treated them with antibiotics thinking they had a respiratory issue bc I noticed excessive sneezing and respiratory distress. Then I realized the direct correlation between their symptoms and the use of DE. I stopped using DE in the coop (still do in the dirt floor of the run) but I had ekready compromised some of their immune systems I think. I didn't notice symptoms immediately but i slowly started seeing what looked like vent gleet and I've been taking a slow natural approach to treating it ever since. I really do think they're getting better but I need to clean them good anyway to prevent further irritation. Btw a coupke are in a pretty hard molt so that's why the look ugly.

To start I would:

1. I would follow the dirty butters around and collects some fresh poop and have it tested by a vet.
It's usually cheap.
(collect poop from a few girls and mix it together in a tupperware dish)
2. I would wash the butts with Dawn soap.
3. I would trim the butt feathers to see if after you wash them up if they stay clean or not.
4. I would read this:

Thank you!

Thank you!
Sometimes girls just can't poop right and they just have dirty butts.
If more than one or two have dirty butts you may be dealing with worms or vent gleet.
A poop test should confirm or deny.
