Silence Is Not Golden Here

I built a new run/fenced area today. It ended up being a lot easier than I thought it was going to be since I had my neice helping.
I had been letting the flock free range, but after six losses to the neighborhood dogs, I kept them locked up in their coop with limited supervised free ranging. The coop is large (12x15, an old lean to shed that has one wall open and covered in wire cloth), but still not big enough for 24/7 containment. The new run is about 600sqft - it's an odd shape. I wanted to get the chook created dustbath in it, and that is behind a clump of bushes that sits on the edge of the woods and a little of the grassy area that gets a lot more sun than the clearing between the coop and woods.
It's not the prettiest looking run, but it's fenced in and it'll keep the dogs out (they're all herding dogs and they haven't figured out that you can dig under fencing). We don't really have any other predators around - the coons have all been eaten - and the dogs keep the coyotes away. It's just welded wire, t-posts, and an existing gate that was inexplicably mounted on the back of the other shed that the coop lean to's on (does that make sense?).
Here's a pic from mid clean up. You can make out who I think is B'Elanna, my Partidge Rock that was supposed to be a Welsummer, and a turkey. The rest are in the woods that I included into the run.

I’m so nearsighted that I can’t see clearly father than 6 inches from my nose. It’s BAD.
I'm in the same boat. And for a while I thought I was having bp problems because my vision would get fuzzy at times and then return to normal after a while. My bp was fine and after about 6 trips to the eye doctor to have my Rx adjusted, we discovered it was because I breastfeed! (This was because I had the baby with me at the last trip and he got fussy so I put him to the boob. The Dr said mystery solved!) Now if I don't nurse often enough, my vision gets a little blurry. It's one of my strongest arguments against weening, I don't want to have to buy new contacts! (Turns out I'm not just a crazy chicken lady, but one that bf's a toddler, too)

I have a pair of real Oakelys that my sister brought home from a barn AGES ago. She looked for the owner, but no one knew who they belonged to. I love those sunglasses.
That is a really good brand. Right now I were prescription EastWests with magnetic shades cause I have too bad of eyesight to see through normal shades :lau

Looks good. We had to fence in 1/4 acre about a year ago after a neighbor’s adult children’s dogs came onto our 30 acres & attacked our chickens. At first the chickens had an attitude like “1/4 acre, are you kidding us? We can’t live this way!” There was a lot of flying over the fence at first but after a couple of clipped wings, they decided they’d better keep their fluffy butts inside.
