Update on chick that I was expecting today or tomorrow but didn't hatch. Sorry didn't take photos as it was really sad just details about chick outcome and first eggtopsy. The shell was really hard and tough on the top part as I made a small hole in air cell shell only to view inside with candler to see if any movement through membrane without damaging chick. I read a article about how i can safely observe through that method safely and put wet paper towel on to keep egg moist while I could see her finish last stages. Discovery is that her feet and rear end was near air cell top membrane not her head, neck or wings . No movement at all. No noise either which was concerning. Meaning she was in a small bantam egg cramped up in hatching position upside down. The chick was beautifully developed and yolk veins was healthy and fully formed ready for absorption in tummy but the yolk and vein part was stuck toughly on membrane skin near skinny side of egg. The yolk stretched from stomach area to attached to skinny side of egg on the membrane. Chick twisted her guts when positioning for hatch upside down. I thought yolk was fully absorbed but all veins were slightly disappearing from membrane veins were red meaning is fresh not brown or foul. After opening to do inspection this is what I saw. Chick was a well formed blue silkie bantam. Really glossy coat and dark grey beak. This was a full term development really close to hatch but chick was positioned upside down, hard shell to break from, twisted yolk and gut stopping from absorption into tummy area. Everything was all well formed ready for hatch. Chick was healthy. Thanks for replys. I'm just sharing what I experienced today. I was really looking forward to this one. I havnt kept chickens in long time. I specially love silkies. Real fluff balls. I currently own none yet.
