Hello,

My silkie bantam has infected eyes, the discharge from her eyes is clear white in colour and her eyes have closed up.

She is starving as she can not see the food.

Does anyone know of a natural remedy for this? If not where I can order her some eye drops on line for her such as
Ciproflixacin?

Please help.

Thank you,

Lynda

Is that the only symptom that you see?

Yes, they're the only symptoms, I've been cleaning her eyes daily with warm salty water on a cotton ball to open up the eyes, however there is watery white pus coming out of both eyes. I need some eye drops but not sure where to get them.

How long since he/she exhibits that symptom? Is it sticky? If that is the only symptom and there is no respiratory problem, like coughing, sneezing, etc, ruffled feathers, bubbly eye, nasal discharge then it might not be mycoplasma gallisepticum. I only have one experience regarding an infection in the chickens eye. I highly doubt that your chicken have an eye worm, since it doesn't have a pus forming in it's third eyelid and there are no worms present on it's eye. Maybe a chicken pecks it eye or it have conjunctivitis? I am not sure what really causes your chicken's eye problem. Maybe showing it's eye photo will help.

I think you have to force feed her. Using a syringe will make it easier. Just open the beak and let the food drop above it's tongue, and let her swallow it. I think it is safer to do that, if you are not sure which hole leads to the esophagus and trachea.
