I have three 10 week old silkies. When all my chicks are peeping and looking for their spot to sleep, 2 of the silkies do a growling-purring like noise. One actually jumped on my shoulder and kept making that noise, meanwhile the other one was walking around making that noise. The third was just peeping. Anyone know what that noise is?

Ok serious now.

You have 3, 2 week old silkies that are afraid of you?
How many other chicks do you have?

My own limited experience is silkie chicks are skittish. Even my grown
silkies didn't like being picked up but once you had them in your hands
they were fine.

Silkies are SO much different from say Buff Orps. My 1 year old silkie hen
is bipolar. She is great once you get her but will run away from you.
She also does this "scared of nothing" bok bookkkooookkkkk boookkkkk
that sets the whole flock off.

I don't find them flighty, and they are so easy to catch. 2 of mine want to be picked up, they walk over and look up at me with those evil eyes and peep. PC, you must have gotten a psychosilkie

Silkies are hard to understand. Some are super friendly & love to be picked up & held. Others would rather peck your eyeballs out. One of mine makes a whining noise. This means she wants to be picked up. Another kinda purrs, but if you go to grab her she pecks your knuckles off.

I find silkies to be like women, you think they are cute, & want to make them happy. But the truth is, they are evil, & you will never figure them out. your best bet is to spend LOT'S of money on them & smile a lot.

My 3 month old Buff Silkie is fast and has grown up so far with standards. She's
quick!!!

Angel, our splash silkie, is sometimes super friendly and sometimes not. She isn't hard
to catch. She's a loner since her two roos well, you know.

We have seven silkies downstairs but they are -7 days old. They are super
easy to catch, very quiet, but won't eat out of my hand yet.
