Silkie boy or girl ?

At 5-6 weeks, unless you do a DNA test there is NO WAY you can accurately tell the gender of a silkie, even pet quality.

I fully agree with sonoran silkies. You can't really tell what gender until he crows or she lays an egg. So there is still hope that it is a pullet. But from what i have heard from the pullets , they will get a very distinct poof on their head then after they get their poofy tail.
Sorry the pics arn't tat great it's just that i let my chicken free range this afternoon and she/he didn't want to be caught and just wanted to relax with some of her buddies lol.
So here are 2 pics. About 7 weeks of age. And she has always had a poof but in the last couple weeks her poof has come forward on her face and is now covering her eyes.

That bird is very likely a cockerel. Females just don't get that much comb development at that age.
