Silkie/Brahma cross thread! :)

I don't have any, but they are amazing looking! I would buy some if they were near me, so keep up the good work!

I love your little baby Brahmas, their precious! And that's a gorgeous Silkie! You should breed your Brahmas and silkies together when the Brahmas are older! How many Silkies do you have? Brahmas? I only have 7 Brahmas (3 light hens, 3 buff hens, 1 buff/light cross rooster) And 11 pure silkies (5 white hens, 1 white roo, 1 blue roo, 2 blue hens, 1 black roo,and 1 black hen.) And 4 Silmas (2 blue hens, 1 black roo, and 1 splashed roo.) I love my flock! Please post lots of pics of your chickens!!!

Thanks!

I use to have more silkies, but due to predation I only have three right now. I'm hoping to get a few more. I have one egg under my broody and want to get a couple chicks this autumn.
I only have three Brahmas, perhaps four if my "surprise extra" is a Dark Brahma. I would love my brahmas to cross with my silkies, however, my silkies are low in the pecking order and I think my brahmas would instead be bread by my Barred Rock.

My silkie, sebright, and OEGB mix that I hope to sell. I call them Dalmatians

This is Long-legs, a chick that I can't figure out. Not the right shape to be a cochin, not the right comb for a brahma and not the right color for a langshan

You have beautiful chickens!!! I had a silkie hen hatch out 3 chicks, sadly 2 died :( , but the hen then adopted 5 chicks that I incubator hatched. And maybe Long-legs is a Cochin/Langshan cross? or is it possible for it to be a Brahma Barred rock cross? what type of Langshan chickens do you have?

I'm sorry about the chicks you lost. Silkies are wonderful adoptive mothers, I love them for that.

Long-legs is one of the free extra chicks the hatcheries send you, which is why I'm so confused. The hatchery has Silver-laced Cochins, Black Langshans, and Dark Brahmas. These are the only birds that would match him.

Do you have a picture of Long-legs that shows it's face and chest better? And do you have a picture of when Long-legs was like 2 days old?

I'm convinced Long-legs is a silver laced cochin. Here is a pic off the internet off baby silver laced cochins, Long-leg's coloring and shape appears to be "silver laced cochin like"

Also, here is a pic of a silver laced cochin a little older then long legs.

So, I think Long legs is a silver laced cochin. What do you think? I definitely rule out Black Langshans, Brahma is still possible, but I don't think Long legs is a Brahma.

Awesome! I agree with you. Thank you!
I wanted a Langshan and I also wanted a Dark Brahma, but they didn't have either of those available in straight run or pullets, and I didn't want more roosters. However, because my black cochin is likely a rooster I'm really glad I got another cochin that could be a pullet.
