Srry i was wrong about the partridge thing, just new to this and not that good in the genetics technecallities....

Why will all his offspring inherit silver? Is this true even if paired with a partridge hen? Is silver dominant to gold? This is so interesting

He was paired with a partridge and just like Sonoran said...the silver passed on to the chicks. Silver can be a moderator in horses so I am wondering if the same stands for chickens. My mare's g-grandfather was silver..All her foals carry the silver gene as a moderator. One was solid silver when foaled. So...make sense to me. I am anxious to see these chicks grow out now. Sonoran you have been so much help and I greatly appreciate it!

So...guess I will be looking for another blue splash hen. I am grasping the genetics a little at a time but getting there!!

Is there a difference between English and American silkies. My silkie roo has a much larger comb than these and a smaller crest. It seems to be the same for other English Roos I have seen

The Standards in Europe call for a much smaller crest. Perhaps the UK as well? In Europe, Silkies are not allowed to have obstructed vision. I believe that is a DQ over there. Here in the Americas, we favour the ABUNDANT, blinding crest, which tends to go along with a smaller comb and wattles. We also only have bantam Silkies whereas over on your side of the pond, there are standard sized Silkies as well.

His foot feathering doesn't look as good as it could. Other than that I don't know much a bout the nails. I this this is okay though.
