Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

Photo ? You can certainly use him to breed nice black girls. I seldom showed boys. Silkies are a feminized breed. A good girl will beat the boys every time.
I'll grab some pics of him this evening. I caught my little splash pullet "kissing" him when I checked the nests for eggs earlier. So sweet.

Except that that is an OLD standard. You always want to purchase the latest version. http://gator541.hostgator.com/~bant...mart&page=shop.browse&category_id=2&Itemid=18 and you can purchase either of the 2011 editions (hard cover, or a smaller sized soft cover--same info, just smaller pages) right from the source: The American Bantam Association.
That's probably why it was cheap because it's a 2006.

If you ordered the one listed on Jeffers, it shows a 2006 edition. Self-blue was recognized in late 2010.
I did already order the book.

I think I'm leaning towards the B/S breeding though so I don't need the self-blue standard just yet. I'm assuming blue and splash would be in the 2006 book?
This older book should be good to start out with, though?

Peep, my little partridge is feathering in blue! Is anyone working with birds like this?
Danielle,
If you decide to part with this chick, I would love it for Lindsey. After our bad hatch with the bantam Polish, I bought Lindsey partridge/blue partridge eggs. Most of the air sacs were scrambled or detached...but two are still in the incubator.

I clicked before I was ready. I'm sorry that the eggs didn't turn out for you. It can be so frustrating. Fingers are crossed for the remaining 2.

This little cockerel is maybe 4 months old. Look at his hackles, the feathers look like it is just shine from the flash, it's actually the gold leakage.
Thoughts and comments are welcome.
Let him grow a bit and molt some of his baby feathers, then see what you have.He looks long and narrow now.If the front end goes down, and the tail comes up, he may be a keeper.
