That is a beautiful cockerel peepblessed. :love

mystdogs I like your paint roo. I even like his comb. :p I love the big honker combs and am not too upset if they aren't "right". This is probably a fairly naive question but: Can't these combs be bred out in a few years if bred to good combed females?

I have another question: Are judges starting to "like" the smaller combs now?

Thank you, Tiki!

I just wanted to say I love this thread! You guys have been posting great questions and answers, and I have been learning a lot! I started breeding sillies this year, and I am trying to improve my flock, and this thread is helping me learn what I should look for in my birds. Thanks :D

Thanks so much! I was really hoping to be able to show this fall but I'm still not able to travel. :( I'm shooting for early next year now....)
Oh no, I'm sorry the recovery is taking much longer than expected. Well, I think shooting for the Spring shows will be a fun way to pass the winter preparing for which birds to take, etc. I think June is the kick off for our Spring shows here. Then it just really keep up until Summer hits. You just have to be willing to travel a few hours, usually.

Glad you are learning and enjoying your birds! There is so much know! :)

LittleCritters, that was a great find on the discussion for wry tail. Very interesting what genes come into play on that. Also interesting that a breeder had good results from a minor wry bred to non-related stock and wound up with birds that won at the shows that year for her. I think it would be really interesting to know if others have had good results from a minor wry to unrelated (or related??) clean breedings. I have developed some wry, so I'd love to know!
