It's not purebred looks to me like some kind of mix. But it does look to be a female.

It is definitely a mystery to me too. The parents are silkies but they must have some mixes in there somewhere!! But I've been trying to get the right feathers and such on my roosters, but I only have the. One white hen right now. She's not very fluffy either, but maybe I'll get lucky with one of her babies. So far I hatched out 6 of her babies and the very first one has huge wing feathers!! Not like a silkie at ALL!! so I really don't know WHERE this is coming from!! Maybe I'll just keep her for a broody hen, since she's been sitting so well for me the last 3 weeks!! She has given me 3 black and 3 ...UNKNOWN..LOL! I'll go get a pic of her right now and everyone can tell me what they think. She's not the prettiest, but she is my first silkie hen that's laying. This is her...grumpy and in broody mode lol

Okay so color genetics question, Sonoran???
My sizzle chicks have hatched! two that look like paints and one black. Now, mom is supposably a dominant white, that is what Aoxa said. She is all white with little black specks, as chick she was yellow white with a big black spot on her back. Dad is black with gold laced hackles and saddle. The two "painted" ones are white with small black spots all over. Are these dominant whites or paints? Also, could I have sex linking going on here? Pictures soon, I had to wipe them down a little so they are drying before picture time

Was the hen in with any other roosters within a month of her laying? That would explain a lot

Well I bought her almost 2 months ago and the Lady said she MIGHT have been with her Americana rooster? How long can she carry fertilized eggs from another rooster?? Or LAY them..lol. I figured for sure the first 3 were black with rather thick wing feathers, so they might have been..but I don't know. These are the roosters I have her with now..and for almost 2 months. Thanks!!

That looks like a Salmon Faverolles chick and a boy at that.
