The hen just hatched this one on her own on Saturday and it looks more like a silkie.

How long do silkies stay broody because she has some eggs that didn't hatch and she won't get up yet unless I take the baby out and then she ushers it back in and lays back on the eggs.
I think you are right on that first one.

I know you told me to only lurk on this thread, but I had a sincere question.  How are you able to determine gender at this age?  I have silkies of a similar age, and gender is not apparent yet.
So what I'm looking at is comb and beak shape that I have learned from others on these threads and questions that are sincerely and politely asked are always welcome. Look at the difference in the beaks between my splash and paint. One has a more hooked and hawkish looking beak and the other has a less hooked beak that only slants down at the end. You can also look at their combs and the ones with wider more prominent combs usually turn out to be your pullets. It's also looking at your birds personality a and how they are developing. My splash is thicker legged and heavier than the other two and is already trying to pick fights and hackle up. Dead give aways. I like to just sit and watch them interact with each other and learn their personalities. You can learn a lot just by watching them be themselves. And I just enjoy it because they are hilarious. I have also looked at hundreds of different peoples photos of their silkies on here with the cheat of them telling me what they grew into. Sometes you get some that don't follow this line but many do. Won't know for sure till they crow or lay. I have a 50/50 chance of being right.

What would a blue laces waydotte cross white Silkie look like?

Depends on the white and what is hiding underneath. Recessive white with black under you get 50% blue and 50% black that carry lacing and white. That is the most likely outcome color wise. Most white silkies are recessive white as pointed out by others on this thread. Mine is a dominant white.

I'm going to be a pain and ask if you have any pictures of a similar colour or anything similar?
