Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

blue splash and creamsicle. But I use it on my white cat and it doesn't seem to stain. either way I use super whitening shampoo. I edited that post and put how well my shampoo works under it lol.

A little advice, bathe them way before the show. You want them to have time to get their natural luster back. If the mud treatment doesn't work, you will always have time to keep trying to bathe it out. If it is just mud, it should be fine. I was with my pure white girl. She cleaned up really well :)

I will be going to MY first show on the 14th, i'm really nervous! I don't even know if they got my entry form, I had to mail it and I don't think they send out a conformation. I also labeled one of my pullets as AOV "creamsicle" so I hope she doesn't get disqualified, I just didn't know how to put her down and this is how it was suggested. This show is also the more prestigious of the two they hold, the other one was at the deerfield fair this past weekend, this one coming up is all the big breeders so I don't know how my little girls will size up to those ones. ....

It will be a great learning experience, it will be a L-O-N-G day though, so be ready for that. I know, it is a little scary to think about how your birds will look in comparison to the other birds.

I read a lot about giving your birds food, but I have also heard contradicting information about not feeding your birds at the show because then their crops get full. I was going to give them a few pellets before we leave for the show so they aren't starving but so their crops aren't completely protruding with food. Is this okay? Or do they require you give your birds food at the show?
