Silkie can’t stand up properly

Sorry your gal is having trouble. :(

Can you feel any heat or swelling when you feel the leg? Is the toes curled?

Has she ever shown trouble walking in the past?

Marek's does not usually present this late with paralysis, so I wouldn't jump to that conclusion... though it's a consideration.

What is being fed on regular basis, including treats and supplements? When was the last time she laid an egg? How broody has she been in the past?

:fl
She has never been broody, I don’t supplement their light so there have been very few eggs the last couple months in general, although it has been an especially long time since she layed at all, maybe 1-2 weeks ago. They eat a normal layer crumb, and they have always free ranged and got all sorts of kitchen scraps and leftovers. I don’t feel any excessive heat, her toes can curl a bit but they are mostly just limp

I agree, an injury might be possible but Mareks is a good possibility. Have you checked her for possible egg binding? Insert a finger inside her vent 1- 2inches to feel for a stuck egg. You an try a chicken sling or chair to get her upright to feed her. Here is some reading about Mareks:

Just checked her vent, hopefully I did it right, but I only found poop in there, no sign of an egg

Is there any possibility of frostbite on the foot? It looks possible in the pics, but hard to tell with slikie black skin.

I don’t think so, I have a hen who lost both her feet to frostbite last year (she is amazingly happy and healthy and footless now) and Yolko doesn’t seem to be experiencing anything similar to what my other hen did. That was one of my first thoughts as well when I first saw her though

SMALL UPDATE

I made her a little pancake and she was very eager when I went in to give it to her, no improvement with her mobility but she did hop out of the nesting box for the treat. She isn’t lethargic at all, it’s seeming like it’s just an injured leg 🤞

Glad that she is moving about and having a good appetite. Keep an eye on her toes just in case they begin to look worse. Hopefully, she will continue to get around well.

UPDATE

unfortunately I’m saying goodbye to my sweet girl today. When I checked on her before bed last night, both her legs were paralyzed and curled up and she was shaking. Today she is almost lifeless and gasping for air. The others had pecked at her face, obviously wondering what was wrong with her so I wrapped her up and she is going to take her last breaths inside with me. If she doesn’t pass peacefully this morning we will be putting her down.

Thanks for everyone’s help. I’m assuming Mareks. The coop will be cleaned and disinfected. None of the other chickens are showing any symptoms whatsoever.

any tips on precautions I can take? I know mareks is very contagious.
Thanks again
