Silkie chick question?

I think my Silkie has been impregnated by my silkie rooster Vader. How many eggs does a Silkie lay in a normal clutch before she starts to sit and incubate the eggs? She has not laid any eggs yet but was wondering what is an average number of eggs for her to lay and hatch? She has been laying 1 egg every 3 days or so up until Vader got to know her.

They don't automatically start setting after they start laying. They will go broody several times a year though. She may not go broody for four or five months after Point of Lay and then again she may go broody sooner. There is no special number or time that I have seen and I have lots of silkies. The can set on at least 9 adequately though.

My silkie successfully hatched 14 out of 15 eggs. It ranges on how often they will gobroody like Bamachicken said.

Thanks for the info. I hope she is in the broody mood! I really would like to get chicks this summer if possible. No eggs yet at all.
