Silkie chicken has severe wry neck (5 or so days) - how much longer do I give her??

Thank you for the tag, @TwoCrows!

I've dealt with a couple of silkie issues (head jitters, leg issues, etc.), and I can only emphasize what both @Eggcessive and @2ndTink said above, as the E and scrambled eggs, and B-Complex works!

Just be patient, as it's going to take probably a week before you see a change, and you'll have to continue this for several weeks. Give this to the one with the head shakes too.

Assuming she gets better, be sure to find a vitamin supplement to add to all of their regimen, such as Rooster Booster granules mixed in their feed or Poultry Cell mixed in their water. The Poultry Cell, I only do about once a week. I think every other day would be better though.

Good luck!
Yes, will def get a good booster for their feed.. I'm in Australia but will have a look online as think more variety than what I've seen in pet stores.. Thanks
Fingers crossed!!

Hi,
Really appreciate your time to reply! Very helpful - thank you! I wish I had got onto it sooner.. At least I know now.
Do you think she's able to swallow okay when I just dropper it under/onto her beak? She does move her beak but not in the obvious way they do when drink water.. She must be getting a bit as she is still pooing.
Thanks again :)
The best you can do is try. If she isn't actually swallowing then the next option would be to try dropping the oil on some feed or maybe a little piece of bread and putting that in the back of her mouth. If she'll eat that then I'd do it that way, if she won't eat it then you'd need to tube feed her which is beyond my comfort zone but there are some good threads on that here on BYC if you do a search.

Thank you. Sweet girl died last night :(
I'm the same - couldn't bring myself to be too forceful with her feeding or wearing neck brace. Learnt lots from the experience though and hopefully it won't happen again.
Thanks again for your time.

@Fergie Angel Jaqui Betty I am so sorry you lost her.

In my small experience with vitamin deficiencies this year, the quicker you notice a little head tilt and start the Vitamin E pills, the quicker you can help turn them around and have a complete recovery.

Always make sure you have a good quality feed with adequate nutrition for them. I do Poultry Cell in their water as chicks, and alternate with some other poultry vitamins in their food the first few weeks.
