I just hatched 14 Silkie chicks from B/B/S eggs. I have some that are yellow with a bluish tinge, some silvery blue and a few black. I've been searching and reading, but can't find the info I'm looking for. Is there any way to tell what color a Silkie is going to be from its down color?

Silkies don't vary all that much from chick to adult. The most variation will be with the partridge, buff, and splash Silkies. We've had buffs that ended up being partridges, for example. They're all cute, though!

My splash is a silvery white color, with darker accents here and there, where the wings are coming in I can see silvery white and I can see sporadic feathers that are darker.

interesting thread!

i have 2 white silkies...well...i think they are white. But they are not pale yellow like my EE that I know will be white (her wing feathers are coming in...and they are snow white). The silkies have these darker hues to them...yeah, almost like blue maybe? But really faint. So it will be funny if our white silkie "Snow" ends up a splash or blue! hahahahah!

Hi all, I am new here... I have added a new breed to our flock. 2 silkies, and i am wondering what sex they are. One is bearded other is none bearded. They stick together like glue lol are around 4 months old. I got them about 3 weeks ago and these pictures are from around that time.
