The silkie chicks are 1 week old. The coop is being cleaned so they are enjoying their first day out. Their mummy enjoys a well earned dust bath after her 4 long weeks all cooped up! The chicks look a bit alarmed at first (huh?!
why is mum acting so weird?) but enjoy some second hand dust and can be seen preening themselves, looking in the mirror, running around in the sun,
eating bugs and enjoying the new experiences.
They are growing up so fast. Their wings are getting big already.
See my other YouTube videos which start on 23rd April 2010. The first chick was born on 20th & the second on the 21st April 2010.
(BTW - The turquoise mark is some anti-bacterial liquid spray* that has stained her feathers. We put it on on her when she was badly pecked by the rooster a few months back. He got a bit carried away with his advances to her! Not all her feathers have grown back yet.
