Hi all, so ive recently started selling silkie chicks. Which i love ❤️
However I sold some chicks to a buyer recently and before giving them to her I checked and said yup they all have walnut combs, black skin and 5 toes. I somehow missed that one of the chicks had 6 toes on her foot. I apologized to the seller and refunded her £5 as travel is a long way for her and she didnt want to travel back to swap, which is totally understandable. I asked if she was happy if I transferred her £5 back and she said yes but somehow I cant help but feel guilty. I know it probably was a rookies mistake mentioning 5 toes with the silkies as its common for them to have 6 toes too. How does everyone else go about selling their silkies to avoid this in future and also do you think that my actions to correct the buyers issues was fair. I cant help but feel guilty.
Thank you 😊

Hi,

I've never seen one with six toes here, and I've been breeding for many years. I've heard of it, though, and it's a DQ for the shows in the U.S., but otherwise, if I got one, I might sell it too, as I wouldn't want to breed it.

Unless your customer is a breeder for shows, she should be tickled she got a free beautiful chick!

Oh interesting. I did mention that it would be a disqualification if she was planning on showing them but iam right at the beginners stage with silkies and am no where near close to having show silkies and I told the buyer that I dont do shows and that I just try and look for the ones with the poofiest crest 🙈 Baby steps 😀
