So I’ve kept my baby silkies inside untill they were fully feathered and big enough to go outside in my huge yard to free roam on a farm and a back porch designed for them to go into for sleep at night , or whenever . I had two silkies both all white and kinda blue mouth or beak , not sure what it’s called . Well once I let them outside they mainly stayed together 24/7 they are sisters . Well just yesterday I found out a wild animal got the other baby silkie while I was out of town and someone was supposed to make sure they were all up at night and porch door was closed , I haven’t got the whole story on that but now the silkie I have still (I brought back inside) is non stop chirping every breath in then out is a chirp , is this because she is calling for the other ? Or is it because she is upset over her sister or did the cold weather cause issues ? I should have let them outside in warmer weather to adjust longer instead of just right before winter . Please help

I was unable to see your video. She is likely missing her buddy. You’d be best served getting another chicken to have as a friend. Chickens are flock creatures and don’t do well alone. She also may be injured by whatever took the other Silkie.
Keep her inside and warm as she may be in shock. Look for any sign of injuries. Give her electrolytes and sugar water. Raw egg yolk or even some gently scrambled eggs without salt or oil are also good things to try.
Welcome to BYC. I hope your little Silkie improves soon.🙂❤️

I appreciate the feedback , I will try to get her another buddy , and while doing that I should probably look for another one the exact same color and kind and size correct ? Or should I just get another silkie any kind just the same age ? I’ll continue to try to upload a video from my camera roll I’m pretty sure i accidentally uploaded my whole iCloud of photos on accident . But I did just attached a photo of both of them in cage inside before I ever let them outside this was a photo I used to ask someone if they were big enough now to go out with the rest and I was told yes they just need to adapt to the weather but after what’s happened it’s too cold now and when I brought her inside I gave her back the chick starter food , should I now switch to the corn we throw out for the big ones ? And they usually get all our left overs in a bucket added up and then they eat everything really , is is the starter food still okay right now she didn’t eat and drink much around the others so I always too it to where she /they was

Does not really matter the color, around the same age and breed would be best. You should also quarantine any new birds before putting them together with yours.🙂

Also for future reference Silkies have no predator awareness and are pretty much targets for anything. They should be kept in enclosed runs/coop covered with hardware cloth and aproned at least a foot on all sides to prevent predators from getting access to them.
They need minimum 8 sq feet run space each.🙂

To answer your feed questions I don’t personally give my birds corn. They get either chick crumble when they’re young and then flock raiser crumble when they are over three months of age. Silkies in general need a little more protein than the standard feed usually has and flock raiser has 20% protein. Treats and food scraps should also make up 10% of their diet at most.

Thankyou for all the advice , my back porch it’s very big almost like a mud room but a lot bigger and it’s completely protected all sides have walls and a door and the inside I’ve created a a walk-in wooded little house that each one can sleep in or usually a couple go into the same ones together , and I bought something other than corn for them the other day , it was bigger like pellets than chicken starter I’ll take a picture of it later today cause it’s 5am rn , and I appreciate you and all the advice and with quarantine how do I go about that ? Bring it home and keep it in a separate area for 14 days then put them together ?
