This is Hotaru, a now 5 week old Silkie/bantam Cochin cross. Comb is looking male, though DNA test at hatch (egg shell used) was female.
I am posting this thread just for fun to see what people think.
If I did not have the DNA test, I would call this one male.
The company used for the DNA test has had 100% accuracy with results that I have sent over the years. I am also very meticulous when collecting samples.
Obviously there is a first time for everything!🤣
Additional info: Hotaru's father is a paint Silkie, which often will give pinker combs in young pullets from the dominant white.
Another curiosity about this little one is it has 4 toes and also no real Silkie traits, no crest coming in and no beard, even though the father is bearded. It definitely looks more Cochin than Silkie.
Interestingly the comb appears to be a peacomb at this time anyway.
Take the poll if you like and I will update as this little cutie gets older.😊

Can’t believe the test results came back female…

I am betting on male.
