The comb isn't large. I think it is a pullet.

Silkies are difficult to sex sometimes!I don’t know you guys… I’m still thinking boy. Silkies are so difficult to gender ID and they can fool you
My silky roo based on the criteria that most people use would think was a girl at three months of age. I also have a silkie pullet that has signs of streamers. I was so confused about mine that I finally sent them all for gender ID testing with feather samples. Cost about $13 a bird. Or you can just wait and see who crows or who lays an egg!![]()
You have such good timing!Any updates?
My guess was pullet.
I can definitely relate! Just minutes ago I pulled out the box that I keep our tiny, hollowed-out first egg in. It’s a lovely golden. Not a color we ever get, but I can expect a first egg to be wonky. You have such good timing!
Cupid laid HER first egg last week, and has since laid a lovely, tiny, pinky cream tinted egg every day since then but today. We are so proud of her, and relieved not to have a rooster!Maybe it's silly to be proud of a bird doing what she would naturally do, but I'm sure many chicken owners on here can relate.
I'll post a picture to the thread!
Wow! What a lovely memory and keepsake. We've thinking about blowing one and making it a christmas tree ornament. Is that how you hollowed yours out? And was that first egg a silkie egg or a standard breed? Our flock is mixed, and I know silkie and other bantam eggs tend to be smaller, so I hadn't thought Cupid's would get any bigger, but maybe so! Her eggs right now are about twice the size of a quail egg, I would say, which seems pretty regular for bantams when I look at egg comparisons on line. Time will tell. Now... hopefully our other girls will get on board soon!I can definitely relate! Just minutes ago I pulled out the box that I keep our tiny, hollowed-out first egg in. It’s a lovely golden. Not a color we ever get, but I can expect a first egg to be wonky.
I opened the box and cried out. It is SO tiny. I knew it was tiny, but not THAT tiny. The girls, over a course of 2-3 months, have tripled egg size.
Such a precious memory, that little egg.
