Silkie color ID

Great - thanks all! Now here is another - could it be a splash?

BTW, I forgot to mention, this and all previous chicks are a month old in these pics...

Ok, last one and I'll try not to bother y'all anymore...

This pic was taken right after the chick hatched and dried a month ago - it still looks pretty much the same color wise, but with adult plumage coming thru. See what you think:

interesting. My partridge had chipmunk stripes at hatching which lasted a long time, 4 weeks I think. I do not remember them looking like that, but could be wrong. They do not have the stippled or striped lines one the feathers either.

The chick in the first pic I posted looked like a blue until about a week ago, then all those reddish feathers started popping out on its breast. Lilpeeps, you said it was a blue partridge, but there has never been any barring or stripes on this bird?

The chick in the second pic had those racing stripes when it hatched that jaybme spoke of - everyone told me it would be a partridge, and thats what I thought it was until Lilpeeps said it was a grey. Now I'm confused on this one...

The third pic looked like a dark buff or even a red when it hatched, but I'm pretty convinced its a partridge.

The fourth pic was very very pale grey, almost white when it hatched - now it has some medium bluish feathers sprouting, but the primary wing feathers have a white "frosting" on them - still blue Lilpeeps?

The last one looks like a penguin - has black feathers sprouting, white wing tips, and white/off white belly. There is nothing blue about this one at all - can blues be SO dark they get confused with blacks?

Here are some pics of them at 24 hours old - just for the sake of comparison, the first pic I posted in this thread is #4, the second is #6, the third is #2, the fourth is #3, and the fifth is #11:

Thanks again for all your responses!

Blue partridge is not an established variety so it will not look just like a partridge with blue replacing the black. That bird was likely the result of a blue x partridge and you will see more gold coming in at it matures.

The chick in the second pic had those racing stripes when it hatched that jaybme spoke of - everyone told me it would be a partridge, and thats what I thought it was until Lilpeeps said it was a grey. Now I'm confused on this one...

Greys are partridges with the silver gene. Basically, in place of the buffs, golds, and browns found in a partridge, you will have silver and grey. The chicks hatch out with stripes, but the babies have generally less brown on them at hatch than a partridge.

The fourth pic was very very pale grey, almost white when it hatched - now it has some medium bluish feathers sprouting, but the primary wing feathers have a white "frosting" on them - still blue Lilpeeps?

If that bird were a splash, the feathers would be coming in almost white, not blue. It is a blue and will probably be on the light side. Here's a pic of one of my splash birds as a chick for comparison..

If that is the case, then it is a black. From the pics, especially the first one, it looked like a blue.

Seeing them as chicks really reinforces my opinion.
