Silkie Cross Thread!! PICS!!

Pics
Hello everyone, I'm Skyler and I am new to chickens! We live in the middle of the Piney Woods in East Texas. We got our first chicks in April, then a few more in May, and more in May! Now we have all kinds of different breeds. We tried to buy from local breeders, but live in the middle of nowhere. We were able to buy from 2 different breeders in Texas, and we also tried Ideal since they are only about 2 hrs from here. This has all been an excellent learning experience! We built our first chicken coop and are still finishing it up now. Currently chicks are living in the house! Anyways, I hope I am in the right thread, and I am not really sure where to post pics of this chick. This is a Frizzle Cochin/Silkie Cross. It is about 7 weeks today. I'm not sure which she got more of? It has 5 toes! That is as much as I can tell thou! I thought it was going to be totally white, but then a little black spike came up near its eyes! And now a splash of black on the chest. If I posted this photo in the wrong place! Sorry!

Hello Everyone my flock is a mix of a bunch of different breeds. Large and bantam ameraucanas, LF marans hens and one Welsummer hen Bantam and LF NN and polish and silkies. Due to circumstances beyond my control I have decided that my large blue Silkie Cockerel will be my main man and my goal is to have black shinned
NN/EEs and OEs with polish crests and mostly with beards. Oh boy there will be some interesting mixes along the way !

sky13r Your birds is very pretty. I have one little pullet that came from a blue egg. I thought the dad was an white Ameraucana but since the chick has a mohawk, I guess my bantam buff polish got to the white am hen. It is too hot here for Cochins but they sure do make nice mixes with the silkies.

KristyAz that black penciled/silkie mix is OUTSTANDING. There are few black and white penciled birds and with the crest WOW. Hope that you can keep her cool in this here desert ! If not I'll take her.

LUCKY lucky birdies ! Will they get a chance to range a little in the mornings ? Of course I was just joking about the offer ? Why would you give up that
lovely bird !

A NOTE ON FEATHERING:

SILKIE x Non Silkie = F1 regular feathering (carrying hookless gene).
SILKIE x F1 (hookless gene) = F2 Silkie Feathering

Below are 8th Generation "S""s"izzles. Big "S" denotes frizzled feathers. Little "s" denotes a smooth sizzle.

No, no free ranging here. We have had bobcats, hawks, and coyotes on our property. But, I am going to hatch out her eggs, will be interesting to see. Offspring will be (silkie x cochin) x silkie X silkie!

Flower, we are thinking long similar lines.

Chaddix, I like your sizzles. They're growing on me.

I think this is a beautiful picture!

I love looking at all of these pictures. I have a pullet that looks similar to one of the girls in the beginning of this thread. She was suppose to be a NN. The breeder said it was a mix up and she was from a showgirl x silkie. She has smooth feathers and no naked neck. She also has a beard and crest, so she will be breeding with my Naked neck :)
