Silkie dying but what is it?

Do not feel bad. I had a silkie do this several times. I administered all that i could, but in the end the poor little thing expired.

I had a Cornish Cross broiler chick do that at 3 weeks last year - I culled it because it would not or could not hold it's head up and every time I sat it down it ran backward and dragged it's head through the shavings.

I had no clue what was wrong but it sure wasn't right. No evidence of injury or illness.

If anyone knows what this is, I would be interested in your information - only because it would appear it's not limited to a certain or specific breed.

It could also be a poisonous spider bite. Ive heard black widows tend to hang around coops.

The chick was still in the brooder, and she said they checked for spiders.
