Silkie ears infected

I agree with Wyorp Rock about cleaning out the solidified pus with a little peroxide, then cleaning out with QTips, and applying plain antibiotic ointment to smother any mites. There are some helpful older posts about ears by Dawg53 if you do a search for "ear infection in chicken" or Google that phrase. Respiratory infections, whether bacterial, viral, or fungal, and mites could be possible causes. Amoxicillin available online as FishMox, can be usefull in treating bacterial ear infection. Dosage in chickens is around 50 mg per pound of weight divided into 2 or three doses a day.

I will have to look those up. Just a quick question until I have a chance to look up dawg's information, how far does a q tip go into an ear of a chicken? How does one know without going too far? I'm very curious since I've never done this. :)

Don't stick q tips into the ear, it will only compact the goop. Q tip around the ear to losen up the sore and use tweezer to take out the impacted goop inside the ear. Ear cleaning solution loosens up everything. I just need to find some anti biotics locally

@Wickedchicken6 You would use the qtip to scrape/remove what you see, you wouldn't really stick it into the ear. dawg53 has some very good stuff, so check out his posts.

I don't think I had enough sleep when I asked that...:lau
I had a momentary lapse of brain power...significant power outage with no generator backup.:p

Definitely staying off the "helping" threads until I'm done combining! ;)
