silkie egg disappointment

She was sitting on these ones for 2 days before I added them to the ones I was collecting. I dated them when she laid them to keep track of eggs.

hmmm...I am going to cross my fingers and hope it all works out. I will candle them periodically just to see where we are at...

*sigh* just gets more and more complicated doesn't it....

still hopeful for at least 3 chicks...

I got a dozen serama eggs from someone on here and they were advertised as fertile. Only two were fertile and I paid 50.00 for the dozen. What a rip off. I don't want to name names but she offered to give me a discount on more eggs. If she was honest she would have just sent me another dozen because they were not fertile. So no fault of the incubator or me or the post office. 2 out of a 50.00 dozen !!!! So even if you contact the person they may not even do anything. But there are some good people on here I heard of one person who got a bunch of infertile ones and they sent them some more. Isn't that nice. Sure wish I would have dealt with that person.

Shipped eggs are always a gamble. It is likely that the eggs were fertile but were tossed around during shipping and they didn't develop once you set them. It happens. That being said, if it were me, I would have sent you a few more at no charge just in good faith. The eggs in my incubator are all shipped eggs and I didn't expect more than a 50% hatch. At the moment it doesn't look like I will get that from the silkies I set. My pheasant eggs which actually came from farther away seem to be developing better and I have at least 5 out of 7 that are developing.
