I have several partridge silkie chicks that hatched out on Easter. There are several of the 2 colors and one that is a bluish color. Wondering what the difference in the 3 is.
Here are a few pics.

the 3 of them:

Notice how one of them has a bluish hue, one is very faint and blurry and the other is very crisp and clean marked.

These all came out of eggs marked either blue, buff or white (none were marked partridge) but I had a dozen or so partridge hatch out...

I ALSO HAVE A FEW OTHERS I AM CONFUSED ON THEIR "COLOR" POST #7!!

good thing I didn't pay for the eggs... i did this hatch on a share basis. Out of all of them I will be picking out my favorites of the shares, and then asking the experts which are the best of the best to keep.... (I'm on a limit of how many i'm allowed to keep)

My partridge always hatch out like your blueish one. I'd be interested in growing out a couple of the others if you have any spares.

Ok a few more color questions...

What would you call this group of chicks color wise??

And what about this one, not yellowish like the rest of the "whites" and not blue but more pure white? (Shown with a blue and white chick for color comparison it is the one at the top)

And what about this "blue" one? (it is shown with what the rest of the blue and black chicks look like it is the one in the "middle" Darker with a light head)

lack of a vaulted skull does not mean they will not have a crest, or that it will be any smaller than those with vaulted skulls. The actual crest won't develop for some time: some will have a well-developed crest by the time they are two months old, but others will develop theirs much more slowly.

My white chicks have almost always been WHITE, not yellow downed. Yellow down definitely indicates gold gene. White down could indicate silver gene or the snow-white down gene.

The "light blue" chicks are probably splash; the blue with a lighter crest is a typical blue. THe top bowl has a bunch of mixed colour chicks. I don't know what they will be

Thanks, Sonoran! I guess I was under the impression that vault/crest were the same thing-now I know better!
