I know it’s way too early but I’m having my suspicions and want to see if anyone else has any opinions! I bought fertile eggs from a breeder in Florida and incubated these muppet babies myself! (First time incubating- 4 were clears, one was scrambled, one stopped developing around day 7, and 4 hatched). They are 6 weeks old now...
Animal (Black)-
First to hatch, first to try anything and everything. This one is my husband’s favorite and we’ve thought cockerel since day one because the favorites always seem to be boys :/ He’s also starting to get a comb and his crest feathers kind of curve down the back of his head (someone tell me reassuring stories of silkies you were sure were cockerels turned out to be pullets please!)
Beaker (white)-
This one came from a huge egg and has always been the biggest since hatch (and has had a poop butt since hatch too it seems). This one has a comb growing too and was the only one born without a vaulted skull.
Rizzo (paint)-
I feel like this is the only one I’m confident on being a girl. She’s just so pretty with her paint feathers starting to show and her perfectly round head poof. She also feathered in the fastest. (I helped her out of the shell after she had been trying to get out for over a day so I’m particularly attached to her... even though she pecks me whenever I try to touch her). She has zero comb.
Gonzo (blue)-
This peanut was tiny at hatch and has been tiny ever since. The crest feathers are coming in a bit slow but there’s no comb and I feel like once the crest feathers are in they will be rounded... but for now they stick straight out in a funny mohawk.
