Silkie genders... :)

Yay! Buff Orps! Can't wait!

I only have the one Splash Silkie left, I am hoping she is a girl. I think that little 2 month old Partridge one I have is a girl. I sold the chocolate one because it was already looking very boyish.

They are so cute! The lav/partridge split has really changed its looks. The third one looks ike a silkie to me, but could be a ee/silkie mix. My mom loved the one with the spot on its head. We had a WJG chick that had a brown spot, but it went away after its first molt.

The white/buff ones are really pretty. I wonder who was laying those eggs and who the dad is.

Thechick with the crazy hairdo is adorable! It semms all the black EEs we hatch are bullies/have big attitudes. Pip is my favorite out of the bunch too! Is the white silkie from the ones I gave you or from the eggs Dolly hatched?

The white Silkie is from the eggs Dolly hatched. I got that one, Pip and an EE that was brown like my others so I sold it with the 2 from Ideal. It will be cool if that white Silkie ends up laying green eggs and is big like an EE, but with Silkie feathering lol

That black female EE you gave me that looks a little like Raven, has a real attitude also. She pecks at my hands when I go to pet her or a chicken next to her. Shes ok if you are holding her tho, but boy she makes me mad sometimes lol.

A couple of the black chicks are really nice, the other half are flighty, feisty and stubborn...don't think I will keep those unless they get nicer.

I can't wait til some of these are 4 months old or so and feathered out more.

Yep, I have a blue, black, splash, buff and light buff partridge and possibly the young dark partridge.

Just need white, red, gray and lavendar and I think I will have most of the colors lol.

Ohhh that white silkie has some weird feet too. Dunno what happened. But one toe on one foot is curved and on the other foot, one of the back toes has two nails on it, it looks like a crab claw. Pretty freaky.

Oh and I wanted to ask you if you noticed the wing feathers on that black EE pullet you gave me at the sale that night. She has like 2 weird feathers that stick out on the fronts of her wings. The white Silkie chick has the same feathers that stick out. I've never seen that before. I haven't checked all the chicks to see if any others were like that...Pip isn't. Does one of your momma hens have wing feathers like that? Wondering if its a genetic trait? Mya (the EE) doesn't like when I touch those feathers, she pecks at me.

Did I tell you my only lavender silkie pullet died?!? She hated anyone sleeping on "her" roost, so she froze to death.

But I guess it serves her right.

Now I need to find another lavender pullet near me with a reasonable price, which is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Most of the chicks I got from Ideal, I could tell by a month if some were boys.

With the chicks you gave me, I can't decide for sure which are which. I hope in the next month or so I will know. Before they get too big and I need another coop to house them all til I can decide lol.

Yeah you said she died but didn't know why. You might have to order more from Ideal in the Spring, unless someone around here has some.

There was an add on Craigslist for Silkies the other day, couple roos and a couple hens/pullets. I wondered if it was peachicks ad. Haven't gone to check if its the same phone number. Said they were in Taneytown.
