Silkie Girl Not Doing So Well....Help!

We recently received a silkie that is about 4 to 5 months old, we aren't real sure how old she is because the person we got her from was not real sure when she hatched. Anyway, she had mites when we got her and we have been bathing and dusting her to get rid of the mites. Also, we were told that we could use Adams Flea and Tick spray and they would get rid of the mites as well. Today, we sprayed her with the spray and not long after that she started to decline. She became very wobbly, could not stand up, lethargic, etc. We immediately thought of the spray so we gave her a bath and during her bath I actually thought she had died on us because she was just a limp dish rag. We dried her with the hair dryer and gently forced some water into her mouth. She seems to be doing a tiny bit better but I am still worried about her. I dont think we are out of the forest yet. Does anyone have any suggestions, input, experience, etc. We simply don't know what to do. She is inside, warm, has food and a boiled egg, but will not eat. All she wants to do is sleep.

I dont to use pesticides on my silkies. A bath with ivory dish soap and water is always the trick! I would now make sure you give her pediality or generic brand from your store. You need to give 1 ml by syringe every hour till she can drink herself. If you can mash up the egg with some of the pedialyte and give it to her at the same time. You will have to wait this out to see how she does. Charcoal is given internally when poison is ingested so you cant do that here. Good luck!!

I'd force her some raw egg yolk. It usually perks them up. Try feeding it to her 3-4 times a day until she eats it on her own. I would hold off on the bath because the first one should've washed it out.

we went ahead and gave her another bath anyway because she still smelled of Adams. She was just as listless and I thought we had lost her. We have dried her again, got her wrapped in a towel and is being cuddled and rocked. she has chirped a time or two but only when we have moved her. She has had pedialyte, 1ml twice but really no change. We did notice while she was being dried, her skin had a red tinge to it, mostly at the base of her feather quills in her back-end area.does this mean anything? This is our first sick chicken, a new baby and we are devastated. Most importantly, she is quite and comfortable.

Sounds like an allergic reaction to the Adams. Sorry about your birdie!
