Silkie 'Grow-Along' Thread!

Chick Growth Update:

I never got around to posting my three partridge chicks growth due to being sent into hospital.

I'm back now though so here they are!

Wotsit:
8 weeks old, from my gold partridge hen but not from my rooster. So far, Wotsit is looking female but we will see! Most likely will be selling her.

Tiramisu:
6 weeks old, from my gold partridge hen and recessive white rooster that's partridge based.
I absolutely adore this chick and really hope it's female as it's a keeper!

Vanta:
5 weeks old, also from my gold partridge hen and recessive white rooster that's partridge based.
This chick is almost all lemon in colour, it's crest feathers are coming in gold as of today! Such a pretty chick. I have a feeling Vanta is a male though.

So day 20. Came home to 4 healthy chicks and another just hatched. Little serama did steal chicks some how she ended up with 3 chicks from 1 egg lol but she’s doing well and seems content and not bothering the other hens. I found one DIS piped wrong end and one got out from under hen and didn’t make it. 6 eggs left 2 more are pipped. I will go back out a couple more times before I go to bed to check that no more chicks hatch and get out from under broody. I don’t know why that happens and I try to plan hatches for the weekend so I can keep a close eye out. That is probably why the serama stole the chicks because the silkie wasn't paying attention.

:jumpy We have 8 hatched so far. 3 eggs left one piped. And I’m seeing my crazy chicken mama come out I went out with a flashlight at 3 Am to check hatches. As soon as hens bring the chicks out I’ll get pictures.

That's great news! I can't wait too see them :celebrate

I'm doing my best to keep on track, reply and do updates on this thread. It's been pretty difficult lately but I do always read posts here. I will be trying to get more photos of my chicks on Monday or Tuesday if I feel up to it.

I think one of my whites (Porridge) and partridges (Vanta) are male. Porridge is turning out to be a very beautiful male though if 'he' is a he.

I've got more due to hatch on the 19th and then more under my broody due to hatch later on.
