Silkie haircut? Thick feathers ok to cut?

I was made fun of for giving mine haircuts. So happy people seem better about it now. I just do not want mine eaten by the hawks.

Thanks for your reply... The growth feathers are those the thick ones? So I'll just have to leave my white fluffy head for another time then when those thick 'growth feathers' are back to fluff?

What are growth feathers?
My Silkie has trouble seeing where to peck for food.. so I'm thinking of trimming his feathers.
